Treatments:

If you're concerned about an uneven nose, we have a solution. Many people desire a straight and symmetrical nose, but few naturally achieve this ideal. While minor imperfections may be undetectable to others, they can still affect your self-image. Whether your nose has bumps or a hooked appearance, these features can be rectified with some well placed dermal filler with our non-surgical rhinoplasty treatment.

FAQ ABOUT UNEVEN BRIDGE

What is an uneven bridge?

When most people mention the 'bridge' of the nose, they usually mean the length of the nose when viewed from the front. In medical terminology, this is known as the dorsum, with the bridge technically referring only to the part between the eyes.

Generally clients prefer their noses to appear straight and symmetrical, running in a straight, flat line from between the eyes to the tip in profile. In reality, very few noses naturally meet this ideal. Often there are bumps that disrupt the balance or overall appearance. These irregularities may even be frequently unnoticed by others but can be a source of concern for the individual. It might be a bump that gives the nose a hooked look or a kink on one side that makes the nose appear slightly zig-zagged.

Why is my nose bridge uneven?

  • Genetics - as with nearly everything about our looks, most of it is dependent on your genes. Of all the facial features, the nose is the most likely to be passed down through the generations!

  • Trauma - anything from drunken falls, childhood injuries or from playing sports. The nose is the only part of the face that sticks out and it is made of cartilage, which is nowhere near as strong as bone so not only is it more susceptible to getting hit, but it’s also very delicate. Trauma can displace the cartilage from its usual place, resulting in permanent distortion of the structures that make up the nose.

  • Disease - there are a few diseases that can affect the shape of the nose, such as hypoplasia and cleidocranial dysostosis.

How do you straighten your nose?

There are two options:

  • Non-surgical rhinoplasty By using dermal fillers to add volume at certain points around the nose, bumps can be 'hidden' and contoured to rebalance the aesthetic and can make a remarkable and immediate difference to the way your nose looks. It can also involve the use of a wrinkle-relaxing toxin, which can relax the nasal muscles responsible for enlarged nostril flaring, lifting a droopy tip and smoothing bunny lines. This is a quick and pretty painless procedure when using a topical anaesthetic but it is temporary, lasting around 2 years.

  • Surgical Rhinoplasty - perhaps the best known form of cosmetic surgery out there, the ‘nose job’ is one of the most commonly performed treatments in the world of surgical cosmetic procedures. Permanent, but pricey.

What does non-surgical rhinoplasty involve?

Rhinoplasty is the correct term for a surgical nose job. In a non-surgical rhinoplasty (also known as a 'liquid nose job'), injectable dermal fillers are used to reshape the nose.

By adding volume to certain areas we are able to:

✰ Straighten a hooked nose

✰ Lift a drooping nose tip

✰ Balance out a wonky bridge

✰ Disguise prominent lumps and bumps

✰ Contour a thinner bridge

The procedure is quick, very tolerable and significantly cheaper and less recovery than a surgical nose job! The results are both immediate and impressive, but they are also temporary usually lasting 12-24 months. If you’re unhappy with your nose and you’ve been considering a nose job, non-surgical rhinoplasty is a great way of getting your desired results at relatively low cost before taking the leap with surgery.

Because this procedure uses dermal fillers, see our dermal filler page for more information which apply here as well and other treatments which can be done with this versatile product.

How do you make your nose straight naturally?

Unfortunately, you can’t straighten your nose without some form of medical intervention. You can, however, make it look straighter through the clever use of contouring and make-up. There are some impressive tutorials on YouTube that show how you can use make-up to play with light and shadow, accentuating or drawing the eye away from certain areas of the face, including the finer structures of the nose.
